Cookbook Volume: Two
Last year we put together a momtime cookbook. The group has grown and changed a bit since then and there has been mention of doing another one. To appease the masses we will doing another one next fall-- late Sept. I have created the sign-in already for those who wish to start WAY early. I find it easier to enter them as I find ones I like then to have to search and enter then all at once.
Please check the index before entering to make sure your recipe hasn't already been entered.
The price per book will not be known until all recipes are entered and we have an idea of how many books we need. I will NOT be collecting that information until next fall!
To enter a recipe go to: http://www.cookbookco.com
find "online recipe submission" in the lefthand column
and use the name: momtimeaustin
password: momtime2

Retreat 2010
The second annual momtime retreat is over. A few tears at it's passing. A fun time had by all.

We started out with all the pizza you could eat at Paradise pizza.

Then we went back to the Blue Belle Inn and got into our comfy clothes for a rousing game of "Go with the Flo". Players tried to make their teams guess words by either drawing, drawing blindfolded, using "human clay", describing the words with a mouth full of marshmallows or acting it out... depending on the numbered feminine product they pulled out of the purse.

After one too many entries of the word "sad" we stopped and had cheesecake and other snacks. Bed around midnight depending upon which room you were in.
The morning was brunch. We shamefully avoided the only other couple staying in the bed and breakfast because you can't keep 20 moms quiet at 11pm when they're free from all responsibilities (and some of the words we had to act out didn't help either). But they came over and asked if they could speak to the group. They both spoke for a few minutes... encouraging the group to cherish the times that our children our little and telling their story of God's faithfulness. There were tears. The Lord had used them to speak to our hearts and to tell us a few things that He needed us to know. God showed up in a big way and provided the most powerful time of the whole retreat in a completely unplanned "coincidence".
After eyes were dried we did a tour of the shops. Some painted pottery. And then we went home to cuddle our kids.

All pictures and some video can be found at the Momtime Facebook page.

Craft Hope Project

The current Craft Hope Project project just happens to line up with our Momtime craft of the month.
Here are the details if you would like to knit/crochet a red scarf for a student who has "aged out" of the foster care system.
If you enjoy all kinds of crafting check back to the Craft Hope site frequently to get involved in their upcoming projects. Some of the projects in the past included-- sock monkeys to a children's burn hospital and small quilts for Children in need.

Back to Normal!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.
This Friday Momtime starts up again. We are going to do another laid back morning. There will be a few moms there teaching knitting to anyone wanting to learn. So bring a skein of yarn if that's you (or a project you're currently working on if you're already a knitting master). Otherwise we have a bunch of new boardgames to try out. Come looking forward to relaxing!
The following Friday we will start a study taken from the ideas in the book Power of a Praying Parent. There won't be any work that has to be done prior to this study... but if you're interested in picking up a copy (or figuring out what you did with the one you have)to go through the chapters as we do-- this is your notice.
Our Mom's Night Out this month will be January 19 from 6:30-8:00 at the Faith Church Youth Building. Polly will be leading us in making freezer meals. Bring $6.00 for class supplies and 4 Ziploc freezer bags. Each mom will go home with 2 -4 easy meals, just add meat at home! RSVP to Bonnie or at momtimeaustin@yahoo.com .
Our Mom's Night Out for February will be the Retreat in St. Ansgar Feb 19-20th. The overnight spots are all filled up, unless you are willing to pay full price. If you want to join us for just Friday Night or just Saturday Morning it's $5 (or $10 for both).

Success!
The Sara Groves concert was a big success!! I've been hearing nothing but good things from those who attended! I want to give a HUGE "THANK YOU!!!" to the moms who volunteers their time to make this happen--
Jodi VP was there in the morning helping unload the truck with the men(!!) and came back in the evening to take tickets and then stayed late into the evening helping put the rooms back together again! Pretty good for our triplet mom!!
Tina B helped set up the dressing rooms and did security during the concert!
Holly R took tickets and worked the Food For the Hungry table and helped get 22 children from Rwanda sponsored! She also stayed late into the night getting rooms put back in place.
Bonnie S handled the will call table with grace!
Dawn C helped with ticket sales at Cornerstone.
Jamie P (one of our nursery heroes!) helped hang posters.
You guys made my job very easy and I thank you!!
We have our last Friday meeting until the new year tomorrow. We're just going to have an unscheduled time of hanging out. The Momtime Leaders will be providing the food. If you haven't came in a long time or never at all this would be a great week to join us! See you there!

Friday in review
We had a wonderful Friday morning meeting today! Twenty-two moms joined us and we heard Katie's testimony on how her relationship with Christ became her own and how she came to the place of realizing that God isn't contingent on her and that He is big enough for our doubt! Then we made gift jars and visited.
The winter retreat has already hit it's capacity!! If you didn't get to sign up but would still like to go let me know asap so I can see if we can squeeze anyone else in. There is also an option of just joining us for the evening or morning. Just the evening is $5 and does not include the price of pizza. Just the morning is $5 and includes breakfast. Doing both without staying over night is $10.
We still need two volunteers to help with the merchandise table at the Sara Grove's concert. The volunteers will get to see the concert FREE but will have to spend a small shared amount of time in the foyer during the concert... where the concert will be live fed. Please leave a comment or email RIGHT NOW if you'd like that opportunity!
And we are looking for table leaders for jan-may. If that's something you may be interested in let me know.
